I don’t know why I find this so interesting that I must blog about it, but as of August 16, 2008, you will no longer be required to take your laptop out of it’s bag at security checkpoint in an airport. WOW…that was a long sentence, probably a fragment- like my thoughts.
Anyways, TSA is trying to help expedite the lines at security checkpoints, although, it must be in an “appropriate bag”;” which are,
Butterfly, Trifold, or Sleeve style. I have read from different sources that the allowance may still cause problems for flyers because there are no set rules on exactly what the bag needs to or not have. Some airlines might still make people take their laptops out, which defeats the purpose of this whole allowance
Soon they will be making bags with labels marked “laptop friendly,” but even this idea still result in problems because the allowance is new and they don’t yet know what works and does not.
Hopefully the next time I plan to fly, TSA will have their S&%* together and know what works
