Why is everyone honking??

by Melissa Cruz on November 4, 2008

As I left work yesterday, I was surpirsed to see that it was dark out at 5pm, apparently I forgot about Daylight Savings Time. Second, I forgot that I had parked in the mall garage across the street from my work because there wasn’t any parking spaces when I came back from lunch. As you can tell, I was in a very forgetful mood this evening.

As I walked across the street, I could hear honking noises going off, and seen just a clutter of cars, aka traffic, I thought I was in New York for a moment. I was dreading being stuck in traffic, as I am everyday before and after work. As I pulled out of the parking garage I seen this at the intersection:

At the time, I was video taping I was unsure what the group was protesting because my vision just sucks and I can’t see far. As I drove away, it was what I suspected, Proposition 8. Now I am not the type to get into political arguments nor do I want to turn my blog into a political stance but I have just been really bothered with people saying proposition 8 is about teaching children about gay marriage or marriage in general, at school. The proposition has nothing to do with teaching marriage. Click here to read up on it so more to get a better understanding of the content rather than the propaganda and bias messages.

I am a strong believer in equality for ALL people. Gays and lesbians are just as American as straight people and should not be singled out of any of their constitutional rights. I will be voting NO today on PROP 8.
