EXPERIENCE:

I guess you are wondering who I am? If not, then you are on the wrong page.   For those of you that want to know, my name is Melissa Cruz (aka @melissacruz for you Tweeples) and I love technology. I spend a lot of time online and some would call me an addict.  I have an iPhone and talk a lot about it because I just think it is the greatest invention EVER!!  There is just so much to do on the iPhone that I can never get enough of it.  Within the last year I have become fascinated with Apple and its technology.  I just recently for Christmas 2008, received my very first MacBook and am so excited to convert. I am on various social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Linked In, You Tube, 12 seconds, Flickr and many more that I will have to list at a later time.

I worked for an e-commerce company simultaneously while going to school to get my BA in Liberal Studies. (I wanted to be a teacher, thus the major in Liberal Studies.)  I had started off in sales and customer service at an e-commerce company that sold baby products. I was there for about a year and then they opened up another site that sold fitness products.  The baby products site ended up closing down and the main focus became the fitness site.  I eventually became the office manager for the fitness company and did everything from supervising customer service and sales, all bookkeeping, content management, managing the affiliate program and attending conferences, such as Affiliate Summit, IHRSA and Health and Fitness Business Expo.

I really enjoyed my job in e-commerce but realized that I wanted to try out the educational system to see if it was something that I still wanted to pursue.  After being with the e-commerce company for 7 years, I decided to leave to focus on what I had went to school for, which was to teach. Although, I wanted to try a different route because I was already having doubts of becoming a teacher.  I figured I would get into a position at the District office and work internally before continuing with my credentials.   I now am working at a school district in the Human Resources department as an assistant to the Director.  I have been in this position since July 2008 and love it.  I have learned so much and know that I will be able to take all this knowledge with me in my future.  I have since decided not to continue with becoming a teacher and want to start my Masters in Business soon.

PERSONAL LIFE:

I am a mother of 2, my son is 8 and my daughter is 6 and they definitely keep me on my toes.  I was a young mom at the age of 21 but would never change a thing about it.  I feel that my experience has made me the strong, responsible and independent woman that i am today.

I LOVE music and dancing. I enjoy all types of music from Hip Hop and R&B, to Country, I don’t discriminate, if it has a beat I can love it. I love going to concerts and experiencing the live talents of artists.  My first concert was at the age of 8, and it was Michael Jackson’s Bad tour in 1988.

It was so surreal and I remember it vividly in my head still to this day.

I love to travel and am also up to trying new places.  I have found that the places I would have never thought to go are the most fun. I have a great sense of humor and love to joke around, maybe a little too much at times.  I love to meet new people and can get along with just about anyone, although I try and stay away from negativity.
